christmas eve at home was busy, but full of traditions. once we got home from the hursts, i put seth down and we were able to read, from the scriptures, about the birth of jesus christ. i have to admit that this is probably my favorite part of all of christmas because it's a treat, to sit in the quiet and peace of our home, and read and ponder and imagine what it must have been like in the days of old, to live in the time when jesus was upon the earth. i love that he came to the earth in such a humble way, and that we all can relate to him in this way- and that we get to celebrate this seemingly simple, yet magnificent event.
after that we opened our family gift, then did our traditional santa letters. (in our house, doing our santa letters always takes quite a bit of time. that happens when you have a bunch of artists. and i think for rich and me, we enjoy the excuse to sit and write/color. that is not something that happens very often!).
then everyone got tucked into bed for the night.
