the day before rich turned 40, seth helped me blow up 40 black balloons. i took these balloons, this poster (below) of "richard kennardisms (with the help of darin from work), and the kit kats to darin's wife on tuesday night. she gave them to darin, who arrives to work before rich, and put them in his office with his card from me. 
so... when rich came to work the morning of his birthday, his floor was covered with black balloons, these 40 kit kats were on his desk, along with the poster and my card. no one did anything for him at work, so i'm glad i went to the trouble of sneaking behind his back to get darin's cell # so i could text him, get some of the quotes emailed from him, and meet his wife so this could happen. 
after he came home from work, we headed out to TGI Fridays for a birthday dinner.
(kids had scouts/activity days afterward)
