after dinner (and scouts/activity days), and a quick stop at
mc'd's for
ice cream cones, we came home and did gifts... before cake. (i know, not the tradition, but i was lame and didn't have cake made. it was a busy day, what can i say. with a baby on my hip, trying to plan a surprise party, and a boy home with the "flu"....)
rich opened up two whopping gifts - a great new black shirt (little did he know it was for his surprise party),
and a photo-book i created online, of our family. a tribute from his kids, then several pages of pictures of just the two of us. he absolutely loved the book. i think it meant a lot to him.
then the next night we did cake. rich was very patient and we even let him stay snuggled on the couch while we sang to him again. as far as he knew, this was the end of his b-day celebrations. kinda anti-climatic for a 40
th, wouldn't you say?
