isaac is FINALLY 14!

remember turning 14? i do. i think it's a pretty big year. the only crazy thing about him being 14 is that means we, his parents, are older too! he's a great 14-year-old. he has MOSTLY been a piece of cake to raise. isaac has a very easy going disposition. he is good to kids, he is good to adults, he is tolerant and kind. he is very intelligent and continues to excel academically. he thoroughly enjoyed soccer this year and got a decent amount of playing time for being a new-comer. goalie was his favorite position and he hopes to play that position next year (his parents feel that is a waste of his speed and agility, but he does happen to be really good at goal-keeping too). he is a great older brother (most of the time), a rewarding son, and a loyal friend. best of all he is completely dedicated to the gospel. he is definitely a good example to us all and it is a blessing to have the privilege of raising him.

side note: isaac tried out for the freshman basketball team at penn this year and made it to the final day of cuts, but then was the last person to be cut. the freshman coach told him, in so many words, that he really wanted to keep him- that he is an excellent player and has amazing skills, and his a really hard-worker, blah, blah, blah, but "you're just too short". WHAT? DID HE REALLY SAY THAT? yes, to our disappointment (understatement), he did. all this time we've been telling isaac that his size doesn't matter. that he's got speed and excellent ball handling skills, etc., and that he is an asset to any team, in spite of his size - and then he gets told that. to say the least, we all were disappointed, but especially isaac. there's nothing he can do about his height. grrr......
