quite an athlete

can i just brag a little, tiny bit? so this is how this went:

end of 8th grade:
me- isaac, you should try out for soccer at penn h.s. i want you to either try out for soccer or football so that you're doing something (so we don't all go crazy) before basketball.
isaac- i don't really want to do football, and i haven't played soccer in years and probably won't make the team.
me- then we should sign you up for some summer soccer stuff.

(summer passes with no soccer. he did baseball, and did some basketball camps, but no soccer)

1 day before our long trip at the end of summer i scramble to find out any information on soccer. i find out tryouts are while we are gone. dang. we call/email the coaches while on our trip to see if they have any make-up tryouts. coach calls us while we're at mt. rushmore (on our way home). he is willing to let isaac come to the 1st few days of practice to try out (which is in 2 days). we stop and buy cleats somewhere in chicago on our way home. when we get home (around 9pm) i take isaac to medpoint and get him a physical (thx to peggy who printed up the necessary paperwork). get home around 11:30pm. isaac shows up at practice the next 2 days (2 practices each day, 2 hrs each practice).

yes, he made the team. he was in probably the worst shape he's been in for a long time, not having done anything to prepare for this in weeks. and he made the team. did i mention isaac's high school has 3,500 students? we are proud. (thanks liam for inspiring him while on vacation!)
