rich's ACL surgery

rich's beautiful knee before surgery. he really does have great legs/knee's. as you can see, they had to shave the area down. (for those of you who didn't know, rich tore his acl at the turkey bowl last november. he finally got surgery and he did the bone-patella-bone graft).
this is still prior to surgery, but after they gave him some meds to relax him for his leg block. obviously it relaxed him enough to put him to sleep. when he awoke he had to pee - only one way to do that! seth and i were there to help calm his nerves. unfortunately it took the medication to do that. but seth helped him smile.
post surgery. he had a REALLY hard time coming out of the general. he'd be in the middle of talking and would just stop to sleep. once we got home, the recliner became his favorite location. how did we live without a recliner for so long? if you're wondering what he's hooked-up to in the bottom pic- it's a plug in ice pack that was very convenient. we'd just unplug to go to the bathroom, then it'd plugged in the rest of the time circulating water at 43 degrees, while doing compressions to prevent clotting. genius!
